Day 20 - Beware of greed, hoarding or selfishness in your life.

Luke 12:15-21 (Jesus said) "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions." And he told them this parable: "The ground of a certain rich man produced a good crop. He thought to himself, 'What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.' "Then he said, 'This is what I'll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. And I'll say to myself, "You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry." '"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' “This is how it will be with anyone who stores up things for himself but is not rich toward God."

James 5:1-3 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

2 Cor 9:6-7 Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

There are no pockets in a shroud and no U-hauls behind a hearse.

God is going to have to take some people to heaven feet first, because they keep trying to hold onto everything they have here on earth.

Day 19- Women play a significant part in giving to God's work

Luke 8:3 Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them (Jesus and his disciples) out of their own means.

Mark 14:3 A woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume (worth a year’s wages), made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on (Jesus’) head.

Exod 35:21,22,25,26 Everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work…All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD…Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun-- blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair.

Acts 9:36-39 In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha, who was always doing good and helping the poor.

Neh 2:4-8 Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me (Nehemiah), "How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?" It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time…and because the gracious hand of my God was upon me, the king granted my requests.

1 Tim 5:9-10 No widow may be put on the list of widows unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the saints, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.

God looks at the heart, not the hand--the giver, not the gift.
